Hi,
For other novices to Wi-Fi like me please watch the following YouTube video giving the very basic information that even I can understand; Wi-Fi = wireless Internet.

The mist is now starting to clear; I believe the new Blu-ray disc player is already Wi-Fi equipped so doesn't need anything adding it simply needs the network connection to communicate with just as the computer I'm using is connected to the Virgin Media cable; it does need a router and possibly this is where my problems lay in not knowing either the correct router details or not having the correct router? It's further possible that the wall between router and DVD is blocking the signal preventing communication between the two? Please bear with me because this is a steep learning curve for me but I will win through; at least I now have basic grasp of what Wi-Fi actually is?
Hopefully once fully connected and working our new TV will have access to the world just as my PC does?
You certainly aren't thick Joe because I'm sure you are much more clued up on this modern electronic kit than I am?
Just noticed your post Colin; yes I agree; I'm sure the new Wi-Fi equipped disc player will handle the signal allowing it to play through the TV; it's possible the new "Smart" TV's can do this without recourse to the DVD player?
Kind regards, Col.
