I agree, the forum is long due a bit of a tidy up, lots of members that registered and never returned, and quite a few that have not been active for quite some time, also quite a few threads that are no longer relevant, (ie maintenance and old sales postings)
Most of the members will still know we are active, as many will have received the Emails as to regarding the change of the address from .org to .co.uk and also about the change of server.
A part of the forum open to non members would in my opinion not be a good idea, it would just be an open door for spammers, abuse, and trolls to post anything they feel fit, not to mention links to porn sites, advertising and the likes of, it was tried on a pirate radio forum that I was a moderator of, and the amount of work involved increased about tenfold, it can also flag up in a google search that our site could be unsafe if any links to a site that has mall-ware on it is linked to us.
I will open a thread in the staff forum so it can be discussed between the moderator and admin team.
