That copy of 'In your Workshop' made interesting reading, Joe. For one thing it shows how much simpler things were 50 years ago, and for another it brings back memories, in some cases, of having 'been there, done that & got the Tee shirt' as they say nowadays. I used to buy Radio Constructor' (and PW) regularly, and still have copies of both covering maybe 20 years issues stashed in a box. The method of keeping screws, nuts, etc., mentioned is better than my 'bung 'em in anything that's handy' system, which means I have all sorts of small items in many different containers, usually the lids off aerosol cans.
One tip that can't be easily used these days of course , is that of using a 35mm film canister as a screen for jack sockets, etc. It's been many years since films came it metal cans, of course, and it's doubful whether any now survive! Another item often used in the past and not made for many years now, was the ubiquitous 2oz Tobacco Tin. Many a small project must have been built in one of those!
