Daren't ask her Mum to talk to her, she't take SWMBO's side, they stick together like glue.
Re # 4.
The other speaker came with the stereo, it's a panasonic that cost about £120 about 8 years ago, still works OK though. I never ramp the sound up as I live in an end terraced house.

Yes it was the size she didn't like, the one 44 I'm allowed to use is in a corner on the floor so out of the way, the other tiny panasonic speaker is up on the wall in the other corner. Totally against all the hi-fi rules of course, my audio nerd mate Jack has to hide his eyes when he comes round, he'd report me to the Police for it if he could. The other 44 is on it's side in the spare bedroom being used as a bedside table when Mother-in-law stays. Jack doesn't know about that, I think he'd kill me if he did..
