Maybe blasting the softwood window frames isn't a good idea anyway Colin? How would you stop dust flying over next door? And then you would have mask the surrounding brick work and how do you do that 'cos most masking material would get torn to shreds by the blaster. Then of course the damage to the wood.
To me it would be plastic frames, you can get reasonably convincing oak wood grain affect ones now days. I have even seen some where the finish was not a wrap but was coloured right through. Fit yourself of course.
But failing that then you would have a lot of fun making from wood, lots of routing etc. Wonder if there is any reclaimed oak around, say from churches. But then you have to cut it to size and I think that oak gets harder and harder as it ages.
