Ah....hook bolts, well they shoudn't work loose Alan, if they haven't got the protective caps on then they normally go rusty on top and then you can never get them undone, well they do down here that is, what with the salty air and all. I had an old damp workshop at the first place we lived in, the roof was always dripping condensation in the winter, no heating, used to sit there with my old great coat and woolie hat on rubbing my hands to keep the circulation going.
