I realise that there are many, but have you checked for dry joints in suitable places? Although having said that, and having reviewed what you've written, it does sound as though under the fault condition that there is excessive loading on the 5763 anode cct. - which could, of course, be a reflected excessively high (and intermittent) load on the transformer secondary.
► Thought: have you checked for intermittent shorts on the wiring to the CRT base? The wiring there is cramped & crowded with little clearance between the tags. We've been there before - remember . . . ? ◄
In conclusion, I reckon your best bet is to simply carry on with the rest of the work on this 'scope and make a note of the fault conditions that were manifest, so that you have (at least) some reference point to refer to should the fault re-appear at a later date. And there is a chance that it never will - as suggested by Refugee.
