Such stuff does seem to shift, albeit for low prices, in my local sale room but I do the same thing and leave minimum bids on any I see as they'd be either handy for bits or to tart up and sell if only to get the cost price back.

I do the same to a lesser degree on e-Bay. I only bought my VHF70 as I felt sorry for the poor thing with its broken case and "VHF NBG" sticker and got it for 99p. Postage somewhat curtails these activities though.
