Thanks for the info, As I said I don't think that it was a mantle clock as the pendulum is rather long, also without front access, it would not be easy to restart.
these are the pics of the pendulum and chimes bits. The clock kept good time and if I remember correctly was wound about once a week. I would appreciate any info on Japy clocks with long pendulums. Certainly on what I have just seen on the net it seems that the Japy company made this.
