Wallace,
Waiting for some warm weather
Seriously, I came to a grinding halt when I failed to make the Volume Control work properly. This is a ganged Pot and Split Stator Reaction Capacitor. The Pot varies the Bias on the front end and appears to work properly. However, as soon as the Capacitor kicks in the circuit oscillates. At least I think so. This results in the volume dropping, which I can't think is correct. The fault points to the Capacitor or the asscicaited coil etc. The Pye data says send the whole unit back for refurbishment.
I found what I believe is a suitable Capacitor but haven't managed to try it yet. In the meantime I came across what I believe is a complete unit on eBay - see attached. So, I've now got a complete set of spares, and all I need is time to get at it.
Col (Retired) refurbished one of these but he didn't have this problem and he hasn't got the set any more.
Any thoughts or comments gratefully received.
Alan
