Further to the above, I have now replaced the TC8 Cartridge with an Adastra D6 (BSR SC11M Clone) from A-V-A-on line (under £12 inc. P&P btw) and 'that' capacitor.
Electronically the machine is now working well, but there are the usual mechanical issues due to hardened grease. Trouble is I cannot see how to remove the mechanism, since the motor board appears to be glued in place. It won't budge, even after removing the four wood screws which, in theory, are what holds it in place, and, without being able to lift up the motor board I can see to way to get at the rear L.H. transit screw securing clip. With other record players, as most will know, it's a simple matter to remove the motor board, then release the transit screws, not with this one!
