Hi "Big" Al,
I'm sorry, I've obviously touched a raw nerve.
What I found "fascinating" what the development of the technology, SRAWS, SSI and Slip Monitoring to name but three.
I also found suprising how quickly some technologies were taken up, whereas others, years ahead of their time, were left to fester. So much depended on who was heading the group, and who's pocket they were in.
I have only worked on the railways (as a contractor) over the last ten years, post privatisation, so I can't comment on what it was like in BR days, but I have a fair idea.
I'm also wise enough to read between the lines (scuse the pun) to realise that it was the engineers, technicians and fitters that put in the hard graft but never got a mention. Still what's new there?
Anyway, what's the point of doing your own research when you can just buy it (back) from the Italians?
Rob.
