I agree with Tony that this is a useful site, however, I very much doubt that the chemicals that can be ordered from the US will get through UK Customs. You certainly won't be able to buy things like nitric acid (or any concentrated acid), oxidising agents or otherwise.
A while back a relative of mine asked me if i get some saltpeter (sodium nitrate - a powerful oxidising agent) for a salt beef receipe. It was a devil of job to get hold of and I had to do this through a contact I had in a previous company I had worked for. Its not easy at all to get hold of anything that is considered 'dangerous' to be used by the average person or could be used for 'subversive activities'.
