See how you feel once you've done a few more transistor sets
It's perhaps surprising that Hacker didn't get around to fitting a DC input socket until quite late - towards the end of the RP25A run. My understanding is that before they came up with their own designs they recommended a unit called "Adaptavolt" IIRC - I have one that came with an RP38.
I know what you mean about the weight, but I guess these wouldn't have been taken to the park or where-ever by fashionable kids in the 1960s. I lug a Sovereign into the garden when I'm working out there, and I guess that plenty of owners did the same. As sound quality is (very roughly indeed!) proportional to weight, and on average more people cared about sound quality back then, I can see why they sold. Thinking about this has reminded me about the 1980s craze for "Ghetto blasters", and many of these were much heavier than an RP18. Hard to imagine these things in these iPod days
RP25 next???
