Hi David/All,
Maplins often sell small ultrasonic baths for very good prices (usually in their sales). Although not as powerful (I'm used to industrial ones as used in pharmaceuticals/automotive etc), I concur with David that they are very effective. One way to demonstrate this is (and horrify youself too) to hold your watch strap (not the watch body!!!) or put your spectacles in the bath with water or with a little cleaning fluid (sold at Maplins too). Its amazing to see the dirt (dead skin!) emerge from the crevices as it vibrated out leaving the surfaces like new. It'll work for anything that is not fragile and can be immersed in water.
