The circuit diag. I have is from a download from the 'Net: it appears to be a pdf of the original RCA 'instructions': ref. IB25927-3. In typical American style, it's layout prevents serious difficulties in analyzing the cct., so I have done a re-draw / translation. This is attached below, with a photo of where these two resistors are physically located beneath the chassis.

I can see that these resistors will act as bleeders for the reservoir cap., but their values seem far too high for that purpose - although 1 meg. ohm (effective value of the two), is, of course, better than nothing at all.
But I'm a bit puzzled about Paula A's suggestion. So let me ask this, please? If those resistors were not there, what risks will the rectifier valve, etc., face by their omission?
