I think most collectors are unaware that there are so many different models in the series. No doubt due to the very subtle differences between several of the sets.
For a long while I believed there were only 13 variants until another collector mentioned he had a TR82C using OC-series transistors with also a headphone socket. This turned out to be one of the short-lived modified A177 chassis models that appeared just before the Mk.II sets came out and superceded them.
Not long after I acquired one of those TR82C as well by accident when I thought I was buying a Mk.II TR82C. Then a year or so later I spotted and acquired a corresponding type-508 TR82D set on eBay. So that brought the total (known) in the series to 15.
Hopefully this thread and my earlier BVWS Bulletin article will serve to make collectors more aware of all the variants, which was in a large part my motivation in gathering all this information together.
