you could well be right but I wonder if the cores are under sized to help prevent jamming. As Laurence points out on his CR300 the core is 7.5mm yet a standard M8 bolt screws into the former. This would allow room for the 'rubber' sometimes used as core lock.

I have some research on the internet and found virtually nothing relevant.

Probably so Al , I only make the commenr based on the sizing , I have an R1155 and I will look at one of the cores in there. A true test of the Type I suppose would be what Mark suggested and that is the pitch measurement of the thread

I think the threads would have been standard unless they invested in special tooling.
