That should make a big difference. I had an 82 in mine because I lived about 2 miles (line of sight) from the Winter Hill transmitter and the signal from that overloaded the first stage with an 84 in there.. Possibly it was a deliberate mod from similar circumstances.
Doesn't look like anything else was twiddled.. the odd trimmer is next to the base of the 84
