Hi,
I would respectfully disagree with regards to vintage TV's, the evidence to the contrary is overwhelming diagnosing waxies and Hunts as you go the effect is clearly seen on the screen, the cause and effect of their leakage removed when they are replaced.
I do however agree with regards to radios that in parts of the circuit they function adequately as equally the evidence shows they do function and I too have DAC9O's and old Philips running fine. I guess it's down to the type of approach a restore or a get working. One that should always replaced regardless though is the grid coupling cap to the output valve, as it would be a tad silly to risk the output valve or output TX.
But back to the main reason for this thread testing for leakage, it would be interesting to get more angles on under load to get a true picture or not. I have tested the meter way and a cap shows no leakage then pump rated volts the the blighter squeels
