It turns out that generating an arbitrary waveform is not too hard for the Siglent. I generated a single scan line, including sync, and incorporating a simple grey scale. Exported it to the Siglent channel 2 over the network, set the frequency to 10.125 kHz and used it to amplitude modulate channel 1 which was at the video IF frequency. I loosely coupled that in to the IF input. Initially it would not lock. I found the resistor in the line oscillator that had drifted too high and replaced it. Lock was then achieved and the line hold control can now be adjusted either side of lock. I've attached a (very poor) image of the result. Note that there's no frame sync supplied at this stage and camera shutter effects also came into play. We're coming along. Plan is to extend the arb pattern to a full field and then a full frame, once I understand the interlacing timing. Then I'll move on to look at the tuner.
My name is Steve, but I answer to most things like "Oi, you!".
