It might split at the lead frame. Looks like a sort of paler frit join there.
It is likely a SMPSU controller. An op-amp, comparator, prescaler, I2C Flash memory or dual opto-coupler, RF-IF amp or mixer seem less likely in terms of 8 pin DIL given the origin and other parts.
