I've used vero style stripboard with copper foil stuck on plain side up to 2GHz. SMD on trackside and you can split a track into two for some SO 4/6/8/16 devices.
I just used map pin from track side to pierce copper foil where a connection is needed.
Doing that for a 20 years.
At a pinch you can use cut up coffee tin etc, but harder to pierce. The printed "ink" outer is solderable.
