Well, amazingly though I have a few Pye and loads of sets with a round MW/LW scale like this, none are that way round. It is likely off a Pye Q8 unless there was another set with an identical scale.
They later had a Roberts with VHF, either an R700 or an R600 (or maybe both sequentially). I don't remember seeing the Q8.
Mind, they did have a Decca RG100*, probably from new and passed it on to us in the 1960s.

HUGE!
They got one of those Dansette style portable record players instead (which I have in the attic, restored (but no brand on it, nor on a a similar older one my aunt gave me, though it was likely Belfast Co-op own brand). Found it in my mum's attic. Sadly she binned the working Roberts when my Grandfather died and neither grandparent smoked).
I don't remember if it was as late as 1966 when the R700 came out.
I wonder why the scale plate ended up in the sewing box? My mum had put grans sewing box away in about 1990 and forgotten about it.
Mystery as to source solved, thanks. Though I suppose we'll never know why!
[* There is a mad story about the gradual demise of the RG100. I don't remember the final end of it, or my R1155 I got in 1966].
I need to start giving away stuff if no-one is going to take it all.
Let me know if anyone needs a Q8 scale plate!
