Recording video in the 1950s

I can remember the PXL2000 being demonstrated on Tomorrow's World in the late 1980s, but seemed to be only good for a toy or a niche tool for amateur film makers.

It was a toy and intended as a toy. No need for niche "film" maker to use it now as there are plenty of cheap activity cameras and phones. Then when editing make it look like a PXL2000.


I had a portable 1/2" EIAJ reel mono VTR and camera in early 1980s. Gave it away in 1989 as I was going abroad for an extended time. I thought I'd transferred some of it to VHS, but those tapes must have been given away or lost when we moved. No VHS or tapes again till about 1993. Then I had analogue 8mm video (S/H repaired camera, the ribbons on lens all broken) in latter half of 1990s and I'm meaning to use the Digital 8 & Firewire to digitise. The Analogue 8mm camera seems dead, but maybe it's the external PSU.
