Tunometer, 1920s-Any info please?

Hello everyone,

 I've just registered as a new member as I have a question if I may: does anyone have any info on a tuning unit from the 1920s (probably), called NickOTime Tunometer? 

I've only managed to find three ads from 1926 and '28 from Wireless Weekly magazine (see pic in this pdf https://worldradiohistory.com/UK/Wireles...926-03.pdf). 

It was produced by Tunometer Works, Gosford Road, Beccles, Suffolk, UK, but I seem to be unable to find any info on the company.

I don't see anything in radiomuseum.org so can't have been common.

Printed circuit spiral coils have been used for small fixed values. This doesn't look like a good idea for LW/MW/SW. The unconnected part is a problem. A variable coil made in 1980s solved that by having a braided wire coil on a former wound on or off a metal spindle so the only coil was the active part.

P.S. The new image attachment scheme baffles me.

Hi Mike, Thank you very much for your reply and research. And your analysis!
I'd really love to know if there's an example anywhere (a museum/collection, etc), as it does seem like an extremely rare and fascinating object (not even a pic on the internet... How odd).
I'm emailing Bletchley Park tomorrow hoping to have some further info.
