Is it being locked by the indexing device with the knurled knob bottom left of your photos?

The UKWorkshop forum is a great place to ask about this lathe - they have folk there restoring all sorts of vintage kit, including lathes, surfacers, milling machines etc. It does look like a Drummond "B" type - http://www.lathes.co.uk/drummond/page5.html See the photos in this thread - https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/threads/dru...on.126208/ - the thread isn't complete, but the OP, Wallace (Mark Roberts) does fabulous restorations mostly of old Wadkins kit. You can contact him via his website http://www.wadkinrestorations.co.uk/ or via mark dot roberts8 at sky dot com (publicly available email address) and I'm sure he'll have good advice.

Hi Peter, It's operating correctly, just turn the knob 90* and locking lever is set well away from the gear wheel. Hi Nick, thanks for drawing my attention to the specialist websites. Done nothing with the lathe today, still trying to create more space in the workshop. Geordie McBoyne. |
