Happy New Year to all and please do keep safe and well.
Our house extension is finally completed (hooray) and we are going to use this as a relaxation room albeit that its not huge being just over 3m x 3m with a beautiful lantern glass in the roof (all of the double glazing was bought as acoustic noise reduction glass which is very effective but a tad expensive). As such, I've set up my old hifi system in this - Arcam Alpha 5 CD (modified), one of my A&R A60's and the Heybrook HB2 2000 series speakers. What has become instantly noticeable with the amp is that the balance is not right at all with the left channel being very down in volume. It's been my intention to recap this (all the of electrolytics bought as indicated in previous thread) and does this now indicate that its probably the right time to start this work or could there be a quick solution to this?
The other A60 I have has horrendous crackly volume and tone control pots so I'm thinking is it worth using some deoxit on these and use this amp whilst I work on the other? I'm sure that this one is a much older amp that the one where the balance has gone awol.
Any thoughts will be gratefully received.
Best Regards
Rob
