It is very unusual for a KB item to not have their identification and address on the back, even if it was made in Germany.
I have never seen a KB Radio with out their logos on the back, maybe TV's were different. Mike

CIH: Combined Independent Holdings. It was an independent radio and television dealers buying group. I think the buying group has long gone. Many independents these days are members of Euronics.
Found this: https://uk.linkedin.com/company/euronicsuk Pico chassis is a neat SEL design. Geordie McBoyne.

So CIH were nothing to do with KB or ITT they just bought stock and put their own labels on the back.
I suppose they bought from other manufacturers as well. That is interesting. Did they sell radios in this way as well? What is the date of this Pico TV, about 1970, or earlier. Thanks Mike

This was common place at one time in the trade. In a way it still occurs although in a different sense.
Many items are labeled Bush, Alba, Murphy, and other names but there is no relation to the original companies.

It's one of those things you forget if you not part such organisations which I was not, but do seem to remember something about the merging of the two buying groups. Or, is it that Euronics is simply CIH trading under a different name? So it's most likely CIH marketed white goods as well.
The ITT/SEL Pico chassis TV set. I'm inclined to think this is a very early eighties model. I do remember the ITT model CT1600 which was assembled in the UK from CKD kits of parts from the Sollingen works in Germany. Set qualified for the "Made in UK" status. CT1600 used ITT80 chassis. Styling wise the CT1600 looks like the ebay set. Geordie McBoyne.

Let's not forget the Scottish company Clydesdale who I worked for, for over 18 years. They were the importers for NEC and Cap10. Clydesdale supplied the independent retailers and others from the Basingstoke Depot, ran by John Nisbet.
I still have my course info on the NEC PVC-740 Beta video recorder. I also was on courses for the NEC Authentic audio systems. |
