Ebay....Smartscreen filter???

Yeah what's that all about, I surf Ebay...no problem...click on item and full description is visible...no problem.

Wife sells stuff on Ebay, she logs on, searches for an item, clicks on the listing....item shown but the description is blocked out by something called smartscreen filter...can't get rid of it by disabling it, she's not alone according to the web gossip, problem is that some potential buyers might not see the description of her items she has for sale and therefore might not bid....not good....anyone know what's going on?

A quick Google for Smartscreen Filter reveals all.

It seems to be Microsoft's latest way to make users unhappy.

Apparently it is the latest izzy-whizzy addition to Internet Explorer.

From a quick scan of the first 190 or so results displayed, virtually all are relevant which, as far as I'm concerned, must be a first for Google!

Install Firefox!

I've got Firefox installed on my PC but my wife hasn't on hers, she tried Google Chrome and that gave no problems.

I'm interested as to what the problem is though.

As far as I can see, this question was answered in post #2 of this thread.

So between that and Terry's reply, you have the answer to your question. You'd need to talk to eBay and Microsoft if you wanted to do anything about it...

The smartscreen wotsit still blocks the Ebay item description on my wifes computer even when she has switched of smartcreen in the computers settings box, someone on UKVRR forum checked one of my wifes listings for me on his computer (Windows 10..Edge..) and he could see the description no problem..So switching smartscreen off makes no difference anyone know why that should be?

Again, that's a question for eBay and Microsoft. Try eBay first.

It only affects the "Edge" browser. If it's any consolation, it has a very small share of the browser usage - 3.37% according to this reference: https://www.netmarketshare.com/browser-m...px?qprid=2&qpcustomd=0

Ok...Update, last night she went to shut off the computer, the restart box displayed restart and update, so she did, took a long time, by the time it was done she was too tired to logon again to Ebay, she's just tried it now, no smartscreen blocking out her listings description...so far.

So going on that it could have been the updates that sorted it or Microsoft have sorted out their problem with Ebay.
