Reording sound from BBC Iplayer

I'm trying to use Audacity to record my recent interview on 3 Counties Radio so I can keep a permanent copy.

It starts 18 minutes into this linke: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p03bkzdf
It's available for another 2 days.

I tried to use Audacity to record whatever the sound card was playing but just got confused. I looked at the help and got even more confused.

Can anyone give me some guidance. Or even make a recording and email me the file.

If using Windows you need to have stereo mix enabled. Then Audacity should work.
For Linux you need to install Pulse audio.
Certainly works OK for me with my Linux, Windows, XP, Vista, and 10 systems.

John, thanks for the advice and the email. I've just tried to enable stereo mix following this guide: http://ccm.net/faq/6316-windows-enabling-stereo-mix

Everything is enabled, there is no button for stereo mix.

Hi Jeffrey,

Looking at your audio card Sigma Tel Audio it seems that it may not support stereo mix, although a Google search showed some possible ways round that.
If you are running Vista or later you can instead of stereo mix use Windows WASAPI to record to Audacity.

Funny, I tried to do exactly the same thing the other day but everything I tried expected me to use it to open an existing file which, of course, I didn't have!

I used to use Freecorder for this and it works very well but I haven't got it installed on this machine so I went looking for it only to find that the current version, at least, doesn't work with Chrome, which is what I use all the time these days.

However, there are lots of similar free tools so I installed one with the unlikely name of Cok Free MP3 Recorder which seems to work well so far.
