Has any one delt with this unit before .i have rebuilt the zama carb it primed ok and ran for a bit then stopped .it maybe down to low compression but I do not have a compression tester is there any way of testing this

According to one utube video the going rate seems to be 100psi.

Apart from mixture and idle adjustments and fuel filter I don't know what to suggest, I hate fiddling around with two stroke engines...

I have not had too much trouble with them in the patsy as I used to restore old tacos with villiers engines onTo test compression I put my thumb on the hole to see how much pressure it had

I run a couple of Sthil chainsaws, any engine problems then I take it to my local dealer to fix, they seem to know what they are doing where as I don't.

I have a stihl 017 and a ms120 but they have always been ok touch wood excuse the pun I would not buy any other make

Mines a MS230 and a MS660, good machines, before these I used to run a 026

Had an old McCullouch before them dam heavy and hard to start used it at the farm

The first chainsaw I used was down the mines, a Danarm compressed air job, also many years ago me and my mate used a Danarm two man job, chainsaws have come a long way since then.

Sounds a bit like a fuel blockage - did you change the in-line filter when doing the other work?

One thing that can totally shag the engine is if someone ran it without the mix, i.e. with no two-stroke oil - this can cause "dry" damage to the liner and consequential loss of compression - happened to me once when a jobbing Gardner used neat unleaded - cost a small fortune to fix

Blocked exhaust is also a possibility... I would also check, clean & reset the plug and probably just replace it anyway, just to be sure.

Are you getting a good strong spark?

My chainsaws & hedge cutters are Stihl - top make. Wouldn't get anything else - strimmer/brush cutter isn't - its a cheaper brand but crucially has a Honda engine and has now lasted 12 years...
