Hi.
My first Android was a company phone in around 2010, at that time I had a simple Samsung flip phone that did text and calls, it worked in places no other would with the apple's not even showing one single solitary bar! I progressed to an HTC which I had for four years with never a hitch nor need to reboot every two week, I then got a Huawei ALE-21 commonly known as a P8 lite in 2015, great little phone which although not in daily use still works, it did require a battery in 2020, which was a simple DIY replacement, this was given to my wife for her Safaricom line and I bought a P30 lite also a Huawei. Both of these phones have really good cameras and operate well in low signal areas. They don't update to the latest Android but OTA updates still come through for security changes, neither need a reboot every two weeks, just on the odd occasion. When I landed this OPPO the missus laid claim to the P30 Lite but she also has a top model Samsung as her main phone. I'm fact my step daughter moved from Apple to Android and never moved back.
We all have our own experiences re phones, I have had no issues whatsoever with Android and don't have an issue with Google, life's too short to get worried about small problems, I've been through a lot with health and loss of loved ones, I just no longer get hung up on whether my phone has Google or some other app. I just fill it all in, my WhatsApp works easily, contacts come over as do my apps from phone to phone, normally takes 30 minutes to swap a phone and there you go up and running.
