Just a quick update. I have now replaced R18 with two proper 5W resistors. Looked at the Off/Tone switch - replaced the shorts with real wire (it was previously done with a length of solder – who does that?!). Replaced C25 and C30 whilst in there. Have also replaced C15.
No issues with the series lamp limiter test, so went with unlimited power. The original issue that concerned me – live chassis – was indeed a false reading. All clear now.
I used a fair length of wire as an aerial, but reception is not good. One faint broadcast on LW, but the rest is just noise, except MW which has nothing at all.
It’s been a real pleasure having the opportunity to work on this set, but unfortunately I’m unable to spend much more time on it. It needs to go to a good home!
