Spell check problem

This has been annoying me for some weeks now, and I have not been able to fix it.

In firefox the spell checker is very odd it tries to work but reports lots of errors with words especially for plurals and words in other tenses.    

For instance "week" is OK but weeks is underlined as an error as is the word underline(d). it does report incorrect owrds (like this one) OK  and makes suggestions in the drop down list.

I have tried and failed to repair/remove re-install fire fox dictionares.

Spell checker works in my other main browser (avast)

Any suggestions?

I didn't realise Avast did a browser. Seem to come as part of Avast security tools.

Have you got the UK version of FF installed?

I don't bother with browser spell checks. I can spell but any typos (and there are plenty, before I check) may get through.

Firefox spell checker is c--p, and that is coming from the worlds worst speller.
It seems to display no intelligence and often offers completely out of context words, It is not even as good as the spell checker that came with MS Office 95.

Have you just tried adding the words to the spell checker, I am having to do that all the time.

Chrome every time for me on W10. Even smells worms I don't know, perfectly! Firefox lately same to have all sorts of silly problems, glad I don't have it.

Hi Gents, I've just been "given" an upgrade to Yahoo mail. There is no longer a spell checker and I can't find anywhere in the tools to switch one on, let alone set it to UK English.
Anyone any ideas?

Seems like Yahoo mail doesn't have a spill chucker. You have to use the one on your browser:
