Hmm, that's a bit of a ba!*ard, I agree and find if something gets too much I leave it and go back later, it allows for those same ideas going round your head all the time to disperse and I find you go back in with a new aproach.

Nice sets those little Fergy 3629's aren't they? I have one amongst my collection and it produces a cracking picture.

I do the same, but for some reason I rarely get back to them. If something is not working and has been played about with, then get the circuit and check every wire, component value, the lot. It could be as simple as a wire on the wrong pin, but it can be so hard to spot.

The best bet is to find a working one to compare it with.

Decided to seek assistance so passing to Pamphonica (Jeremy) to cast his expert eye as test equipment is his forte.I Will post back on his findings and if indeed this unit is salvageable.

Just as I'm about to admit defeat and box up I decided one more last stab, and the little blighter decides to put it's hands up in surrender. I now have the 10 patterns appearing and a healthy test tone.

The quality of the output is wanting, but a step in the right direction and the little confidence boost one needs every now and then.

Encouraged I shall continue, still a huge mountain to climb, I've only been looking at the TV pattern side there' still the AM/FM sig gen and sweep and CW??

Hi Lee,

To be honest not sure at this point, I just started by running the iron over some joints then thought I would give it one more try and I was rewarded with some output. It's far from perfect but at least it's a step in the right direction.

I have that with one of my stereo's, it's not the same but the LCD screen dies and kills the radio, whenever I unscrew the side covers and put them back on it's fine?!

I know LCD? Whats THAT!?

Very true Mark, but it sort of leaves an uneasy feeling when you get spongy moments like this, I'm waiting for the blighter to bite back go sulky on me again. The output is very flakey and the fergy struggles to get a lock so a clue there as it gets Test card C from the aurora with no problem at all.

As I said Test Gear is not my bag so after gaining some ground I seem to have hit a block and bashing my head on the bench for a few days the dent in my forehead is very pronounced now. So I have decided to go see a Test gear guru who lives 20 miles north from me, some of you will know of him, Ed Dinning the T/X rewind wizard of the North, so I'm off to see the wizard, sorry couldn't resist that

I'm sure with Ed's test gear expertise this Taylor will put it's arms in the air and surrender to him or most likely he will say so what about this wire you missed DOH! the shame ! oh the shame! lets hope not
