Don't know what I was thinking but I've just bought one of these in good physical condition but unknown functional order.
It's certainly all there and looks ok but I need to do some research and investigation before powering it up.
The fascination started when I saw one recently for the first time and was completely captivated by the machines concept.
Won't have time to play with it for a while but will post again when I know how the first power up and trial goes.

where would you get a repacment tape if you ever needed it, i was offered one not working for £50 but im a coward and turned it down

There is quite a bit of information on them and replacement tape is available so it shouldn't be too difficult to revive. The internals and cosmetics are really good, definitely hasn't been bodged. Many of the transistors are plugged into sockets even ! Looking forward to what is to be found on the tape !

It's quite weird to listen to tapes, if you think where it last stopped was the last time it was listened too for 10,20 or even more years!

Probably about 10 years ago as a generally available format, that would have been cassettes. I still use a Denon Hi-Fi cassette deck at home, also a mini disc deck. They both still provide a good quality listening and I like the tactile experience. MP3 type players hold no appeal or fascination for me.
