Unknown French Radio

Hello all, I need some help identifying this french made radio.
The owner popped it round yesterday to see if I could fettle it for him, he recently purchased it in a house clearance while on holiday in France, I was green when he told me it worked out in proper money that it had cost him £15.00.

I imagine it has not been used for quite some time, going by the state of the plug.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what make it is?

I can only see three valves. Are there another two in hiding? Being rimlocks it must be post war.

You are correct Joe, two in hiding, Valve line up is GZ40, EL41, EBC41, EF41, and ECH42, magic eye is a Mazda EM34.

They sure came up with some hideous looking designs, to me anyway. I'll guess Oceanic but model?

You will need to join and try out your French if you can remember any and of course post a pic! But Goggle has a reasonable translator.

Looks typical French...designed for Louis the fourteenth, I hope it performs better than it looks...

Hi Paul,

I had a browse through the Radiofil reference book but did not see an exact match. The closest is a Radio Perfects Amiral 2. If you can list the valve set I can see if the Perfecta uses the same set.

In case it helps - Amiral 2 lists two sets in the book with different valve sets as follows:

6BA6, 6BA7, EL84, EZ.., 6AV6, plus EM84 magic Eye

6BE6, 6BA6, 6AV6, 6AQ5, 6X4, 6AF7 magic Eye.


Just read the valve set above so it looks like Amiral 2 is not a good candidate.......

Well the mystery is solved, thanks to some help from the kind gentleman that runs this site.
