This effect (hearing yourself delayed) is why TV and radio presenters need to have a "clean feed" in their earpieces/headphones. A "clean feed" basically means "everything but yourself, but these things are often varied depending on the programme requirements. Things could be bad enough in the analogue days, but things are potentially much worse in this digital age...
