I have a power board from a battery charger made by Mastervolt which fails to work. No service info found. PRC item of course.
On the pcb is a component space marked "NTC". Assuming that this is negative temperature coefficient? But what?
It is about the size and thickness of a 5p piece, was dark green ceramic coated, 2 leads. It is in the mains input after a bunch of X and Y type caps, 2 MOVs and to ferrite cored inductors. I have mains on one side, the other now obviously has nothing.
Now blown to bits. The remains look to be a carbon disk with a lead each side. no visible markings left.
What is it please? Any idea why it should be blown up, nothing downstream of it appears burnt or distressed?
