That article has the same graphic of two-button doorbell as the earlier link but also has a dual chime with a single hammer/solenoid.

The house I lived in in the 1960s had the remains of a flag based system in the kitchen to bell-pushes in most of the rooms. I cross-wired it and put a mic in the lounge to monitor in the bedroom. Originally buzzers using the large screw top 4.5 V batteries were more common than bing-bong doorbells. I remember visiting one large house that defunct handle. But our house had a wind-up doorbell on rear of the front door. The dome and striker like a bicycle bell (but larger and dome was winder and turned) and spring power released by the button and shaft. Strangely our folding electric bikes have quite old style mechanical bells, even though electric bicycle "bells" existed at least in 1960s.

We now have a wireless door bell that regularly fails. I think a base with NiMH, charger and wire to the front door is needed. I'd like the chime in 1st post, but postage etc make it impossible. OTOH, no courier makes an attempt to "ring" since Covid, but drop parcel behind bin or at the doorway and scarper.

A quick search reveals that the "clockwork" (spring powered) doorbells are still made and sold!

I use air operated switches on shower drain pumps on boats. Even though its only 12 or 24 volts they are more reliable and you can site them in the shower.

We had one of the ding dong bells at home, the back door bell just rang a single ding, front door rang ding-dong.

The door chime has arrived, I just now found it outside this morning. I think it must have arrived yesterday afternoon but I didn't notice it. After giving it a quick manual test I'm well impressed by the sound it makes. Thanks for including the bell push too. I must say the parcel was beautifully secured with some lovely pink rope. My granddaughter was very well impressed with it. I'll get it cleaned up and installed by the front door. Thanks Sam, ding dong David.
