Inherited by me from my old man, who bought this original late 70s/early 80s. It was showing signs of wear and tear, the two beech wood beams were life expired and the rest was tired.
High speed wire brush and a respray in royal blue plasticote spray, new release springs. Two new beech beams were obtained for £52 from an ebay shop, Merlin Engineering, who do replacement beams for all the workmate range. I know, a new WM can be had for as little as £65 for a basic model, but the newer models have MDF timbers and the recommendation is if you've got an old one then stick with it rather than chuck it as it will outlast the MDF models.
Final parts list other than two new springs, beams and springs was two new rivets and a couple of washers. Should last another 30+ years.
