One for the Grandchildren - Velleman Dice Kit

I bought this a few Months ago to amuse the grandchildren but haven't got round to putting it together until now.

It's quite straightforward if a bit fiddly in places for old fingers. You give it a shake and the LEDs 'Rotate' then stop , flash, wait with them ON, then flash and go out. You can shake it again at any time.

Actually it's in some danger of not making it to the grandchildren as their dad has borrowed it. He reckons it will be an ideal management tool to allocate the next job to his workers. Now that should make them think

I can remember seeing one with a couple of TTL chips and an oscillator in it as a project in a magazine.
It had a push button to activate it.

I've got one of those somewhere in the attic. In a previous life we got a job lot of PCBs made and some steel boxes which we painted black. I fitted a microswitch to the bottom so that you picked it up to set it off and then put it down to stop it. If I remember rightly the original version got one of the patterns wrong but there was a mod.
I must search for it one of these days.
