In the late 60's I bought a Murphy U130 for 10 bob, rigged up a long wire aerial to the line post at the end of the garden & away we went. Everything worked perfect, I even received some Canadian & east coast USA stations. One day Mum put some wet washing on the line, the post snapped, there was lots of shouting & fuss & my aerial was blamed. I had to pay for a new line post & was banned from attaching my aerial to it, I had to rig it to the fence after that. When I moved in with SWMBO I put the U130 in the loft, when we moved I left it there, when I went to ask the new folks for it back they'd put it in the bin, I wanted to cry..
