I now know the correct name for the type of band change switches used in this receiver...."Barrel Switch" that might not be new to some but it is to me, anyways here is an article that contains some constructional details for a typical barrel switch, it's contained within an article about a receiver construction, the WW magazine pages are page 236-239:
