Hmm, mine case is only designed for a wired in cable.

The plug on the signal generator is the living end of unsafe though, it's a two pin with a screw on top and no cord grip.  

They do have a cord grip (of sorts, anyway) - it's the same as that used in a BC lampholder. In the picture you posted, it's not been wired properly. Those 'Clix' plugs are fine, if you wire them correctly! No worse than old light switches where the top cover just screwed on to a thread around the dolly.

It's what it came with, probable that has not been used in many years. I would like to use it so it will get a new plug, three core flex, a proper strain relief grommet, and an internal fuse. I have to do pat tests on the stuff I use in the workshop and it has to at least pass as class one for insurance purposes. Some health and safety is a fag, But.....

Here in our 200 year old maison en France we have one 2 pin power point per room ( with cartridge fuse in each outlet and no earth).
When I started the re-wiring and came to switch off the power to the sockets the lights went off as well.
Seems as though power and lights are just one circuit.

I have re-wired the guest room with 4 double flush Legrand power points, just the rest of the house to do....
