A new scam !!

I had a pre recorded phone call from a well sounding educated, English sounding lady.
She thanked me for booking my train ticked from London to Glasgow
for £100. Said if I had any queries to press 1.

I never booked such a ticket but checked my credit card.
Not surprised when no such amount had been taken.

The scammers are getting more sophisticated. So beware the
alluring female voice now.

Usually I put the phone down as soon as a message says "press 1".

The scammers try anything that will work, but it's often more the pattern of a call rather than the actual content.

In this case though it's highly supicious that it was an "educated, English sounding lady". Now how many genuine examples calls of those do we get from companies these days?

I think that foreign scammers are beginning
to realize that their accents are a give away.
So they are hiring a good English speaker to record their words
which will deceive many.

£300 for a railway ticket is a scam anyway.

It's the same with attempted e-mail scams.
They can look quite authentic, but all you need to do is to look the e-mail address, it's a dead give-away that it is not from the company that it is supposed to be.

Sometimes the email address is correct.
