Were any parts of the TV transmitter and the tower aerials ever saved?
If so, is there any link on the web where they are shown?

I have a CAT6 water cooled valve, as used in the final vision/sound stages,
but sadly, I doubt if it was from Ally Pally.

From memory, the Science Museum has part of the transmitter. The main mast is still there on the east tower, though with very different aerials. A small section of a similar mast was preserved at EMI Central Research Labs for some years, with a restored aircraft warning light on top. I don't know what happened to it when the labs closed. I can only hope it went to the Science Museum along with other items from the EMI CRL museum.

On the studio side, there are a very few surviving camera bits.

It would be a great pity if it went onto a skip.

Would the Rosendale  Rd museum like it do you think?
If so, it would have to be collected. (Near Ashby de la Zouch)

I had a nice chrome stand made for it as you can see.
Also red LED's illuminating the filament well and photo
of mast.

Since we're mainly concerned with the sending side of TV it would be lovely for the BECG if you're willing to donate it to our charity. It would become an important exhibit in our Broadcast Engineering Museum which soon start to exist in real life. www.becg.tv

I visit the Ashby area a couple of times each year (we have friends at Barrow on Trent)  and so could collect. Not sure about our next visit but it will certainly be this year. If you need it collected sooner than that, Ashby isn't too far from our base near Lincoln so one of my fellow trustees could make an arrangement.

The attached photo shows one of our most important exhibits. A Marconi Mk II camera that was used at the Queen's Coronation. The picture also shows BECG chairman, Paul Marshall, with the camera at BBC Broadcasting House where the camera was on show for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

OK on all that. I am not in any hurry to have it collected as long as I don't
kick the bucket at 89, before you come. :-) :-)

I had a typo error. I said it's a CAT 6 valve.
It is, of course, the CAT 9 used in the final stages.

Thank you again. This is a significant artifact for the BECG to have in our museum collection. There's a possibility that one of our trustees will be up your way on Thursday 5th May but it's not yet certain. I may be able to collect you later on the same day but again it's not certain.
