Film capacitor kits

Hi. I want to start replacing the old wax paper cap's on my growing collection of radio's, I believe they should be replaced by film cap's?. Can anyone recommend a supplier who does a kit of film cap's of typical values and voltages found in 40's/50's radios. I have a duff one (I think) on a Pye P28 0.01 mfd 1000volt! (1000volt, really?). Any help appreciated.

1000V caps were sometimes used in 2 positions in vintage radios. One is across the mains. Nowadays we would use a Class X capacitor which is designed for the job. The other position is as a tone correction capacitor, with one end conencted to the anode of the output valve and the other to either HT or 0V. 10n (0.01u) is a rather high value for that. I would be happy to use a modern 630V film cap for that.

I've dealt with Jan Wusten for many many years and he is excellent. Very good bloke and on the very few occasions I've had an outgassed tube or whatever (out of several 100 I have bought from him), sorting it out was easy.

I use Just Radios all the time and always get great service from them. One advantage is that they supply old value capacitors like 0 .4mfd, etc. I think they are a "mom and pop" type of business.
