This was brought to me a few days ag in a rather grubby coditon. Having cleaned it up and, with some difficulty removed the chassis from the cabinet, it was obvious that at some point the radio, or at least the chassis assembly had been dropped, cracking the circuit board in seversl places where the driver and output transformers are situated. A clomsy attempt to repair the damage had, at some point been made. I've now remidied that by using some short lengths of 18swg tinned copper wire to brdge the broken printed tracks, and give a bit more rigidity to the board. The radio is/was working quite well, but I found that there is (electrical) leakage between the fixed and moving vanes of the tuning gang, particularly in the aerial section, which is proving difficult to cure. Unlike a similar problem in a Bush TR82C, where the vanes were actually s/c at some settings, and which was cured by carefully adjusting thespacing of the moving vanes relative to the fixed ones
( The setting of the adjustment screw had been disturbed ), the tuning gang in the RT1 doesn't seem to be amenable to either cleaning or adjustment. Close inspection witth a magnifying glass doesn't reveal any bends in the vanes or foreign matter stuck in there, so it looks like I'll have to look for a replacement tuning gang, unless anyone has any suggestions as to how I might remedy the faults in the orignal.
A supplementary question concerns the cabinet handle, of which only two short lengths remain. How do you remove the clips securing the handle ends to their pivots?
